At our North York dental office, we use a topical anesthesia gel called Oraqix to help patients feel more comfortable during deep scaling or root planing procedures. It does not require injection and is very effective for patients who have dental anxiety, allowing our dentists to perform otherwise uncomfortable and painful periodontal treatments efficiently.
Commonly known as "laughing gas", Nitrous Oxide is used to induce a state of relaxation, often allowing patients to be less anxious about the procedures that are happening while the freezing we use takes care of any pain or discomfort. The nitrous oxide is inhaled through a nose piece during your procedure and monitored by our trained team. Nitrous oxide, although not technically a sedative, can affect your reaction time so our North York dental office requires that you have a companion to pick you up from your appointment.
If you have a medical condition, please notify our North York family dentist prior to a sedated dental procedure. Patients should also notify their dentist about any medications they are currently taking.
